The Canon 7D standard picture, also with Contrast dialed down, was too punchy for our taste as well as too saturated. With this new picture profile you can achieve a more refined “Cine” look. This Picture Style, that can be downloaded to your camera with the EOS Utility, introduces a S-gammacurve that lifts the black levels is shadows and “low-mids” and compresses the highlights, resulting in an over-all increased latitude – and a decrease in contrast.

The new Nikon finally shoots 1o80/24p and drops the MJPEG codec in favor of h.264. Other vitals of the D7000 include a 16.2 megapixel APS-C sensor, full-time autofocus in movie mode, dual SD card slots, 100 percent viewfinder coverage, and magnesium body (not plastic). Its $1,200 price tag (for body-only; $1,500 with a 18-105mm DX VR kit lens) makes it $100 more than its competitor, the not-coincidentally-recently-announced Canon 60D.

4 billion apps have been downloaded from the App store, and there’s 185,000 apps in the store. So basically, theres an “app for everything”. Now and again, us filmmakers like to have gadgets that make our jobs easier, right? Well, out of all the apps out there for the iPhone/iPad/iTouch, there must be an app for filmmaking.
